Melbourne’s Marché Champêtre is located in a bucolic setting in the Eastern Townships, near the Saint-François River. The market has a peaceful environment, is bordered by trees and even with the market’s bustle, the calm is prevalent. Every Saturday, from mid-May to the end of October, between 9 am and 1:30 pm, meet more than 20 local producers who welcome you with a large variety of local agri-food and artisanal products. Everything you need is available: organic vegetables, olives, breads, charcuteries, fresh fruits, jams and relishes, cheeses, prime meats, eggs, coffee, cold beverages and desserts. Some artists sell jewelry, knits and cosmetics. Thanks to a partnership between the Municipality of the Township of Melbourne and the MRC du Val-Saint-François, the Daniel Thomas Pavillon provides shelter to the market goers allowing them to fully enjoy the market, its atmosphere and its BBQs. The Pavillon makes other events possible. The Melbourne Marché Champêtre is a non-profit organisation which brings together agri-food producers and processors as well as artisans from the Melbourne Township, Richmond and surrounding areas. The Market’s mission is to promote local production while encouraging fair trade and sustainable development. It was founded in 2003 and will start, in 2017, its 14th season.
