342, rue Saint-Georges, Windsor (Québec) J1S 2Z5

Site of the oldest black powder plant in Québec. Established in 1864, just after the Secession War in the United States, the Poudrière de Windsor produced black powder, an essential element of explosives. Until 1922, Windsor lived to the rhythm of this dangerous industry. The plant had up to 56 buildings erected along the Watopeka River that supplied the hydraulic power necessary for the fabrication of the powder.
